[OSGeo Africa] Google Earth as a GIS interface?

A colleague this morning drew my attention to
http://www.interactiveearth.blogspot.com/ showing many directy examples of
using the Google API to get past mere geo-information portrayal to
functions that we have in the past associated more with "real" GIS. Maybe
it's old hat to you hardcore Google hackers out there but I find it most
interesting. Now to work out what it all means for UNEP and the SDI-east
Africa initiative.
