My best advice to you is to get registered with PLATO (now South African Geomatics Council) in the appropriate category in GISc. This will greatly assist you in your employability especially in Government

Good day

I am a Bsc in Geology and Msc in Geoinformatics graduate from Stellenbosch University. I am currently looking for career opportunities in the GIS field including internships, learnerships or training opportunities. I have been job hunting for the past three years but still cant get employment not even a single interview, even with a good academic record. I would appreciate any information and advice from GIS professionals on what companies are looking for as my current methods are not working. Your help and time will be greatly appreciated.
