If you look at the landing page for joining this list it has the 
following description.

The above statement is descriptive enough. Sometimes in the list, we 
encounter conversations about proprietary GIS which we respond to. But 
generally, we do not encourage specific questions about how to do 
certain tasks using proprietary GIS software. I am sure there are plenty 
of platforms for asking questions with regards to XYZ(proprietary) software.

Interesting questions could be like:

I usually do these tasks in software XYZ (proprietary) how do I do the 
same tasks using Open Source GIS software ?.
