all<BR><BR>Some of you might be going to FOSS4G2007 (<A

FOSS4G presented by OSGEO is the premier international Free and Open Source
Geospatial conference series and OSGEO is aiming for FOSS4G2008 to be ' <SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">the </SPAN>geospatial conference of the year'. Well,
OSGEO has just released the RFP to host FOSS4G2008 (<A
onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)"
href="http://www.osgeo.org/conference/" target=_blank>
http://www.osgeo.org/conference<WBR>/ </A>) and I'd like to put in a proposal to
host it in SA.<BR><BR>I'm sending this to the Africa OSGEO list and the GISSA
committee. Feel free to forward it to others who might be interested, especially
anyone else in SA who's thinking of putting in a bid (let's not split the
chances) ;-). The proposal has to be submitted by July 20 so we have to hit the
ground running. If you'd like to support this and volunteer to be part of
the local organising committee, please get back to me asap. We need to put a
budget together, secure a date and venue and most of all identify sponsors.
