The paper based maps are not that expensive ( at least
here in SA )
Granted there are quite a number of them.

Still for a not very large sum YOU would have a compete
set ( believing that the SG in Windhuk <sic> can supply a
full set ) to store away for any future use. Perhaps the
South African SG / NGI should as a matter of principle
keep in their archive / document section full sets of ALL
maps of the SADC countries ( including perhaps
Mozamabique and Angola ) ? I imagine that the state of
the SG departments of these countries would make this
something of a difficult task ?

Speaking from observed experience the Geography
departments of our larger better known Universities ( and
their libraries ) do have quite extensive map collections
( although these may not be completely up to data )

Have a look particularly at UCT as well as WITS
Aftertaking all of human history
for population to reach one billion.

It took only a little over a century
To reach two billion in 1930.

The Third Billion was added in just thirty years.( 1960 )
The Fourth Billion in only Fifteen Years. ( 1975 )
The Fifth Billion in Twelve Years ( 1987 )
The Sixth billion in just Thirteen Years. ( 2000 )
