"Geospatial Professional Society of the Year" Awarded to OSGeo Foundation

The OSGeo Foundation is pleased to be recognized as the "Geospatial
Professional Society of the Year" by Geospatial Media and Communication
<http://geospatialmedia.net/>. Geospatial World Award is an
internationally-acclaimed private award recognizing exemplary
innovations and practices in the global geospatial industry.

The announcement was made at the gala dinner event of Geospatial World Forum
<http://geospatialworldforum.org/>, recently held in Hyderabad, India. The
2017 award in recognition of our foundation's effort towards promoting the
use of open source geospatial software, and its collaborative development.

The Award was presented to our president, Prof. Venkatesh Raghavan, by Dr
Swarna Subba Rao, the Surveyor General of India, in the presence of Mr.
Sanjay Kumar, CEO, Geospatial Media and Communications and other luminaries
of the global geospatial community.

While accepting the award on behalf of the OSGeo Foundation, Prof.
Venkatesh Raghavan said the award calls triple celebration, as
2017 also marks 250 years of glorious history of the Survey of India,
the 20th Anniversary for Geospatial Media and Communications Pvt. Ltd.
Our president dedicated the award to all who believe in openness and
freedom in geospatial software.

Thanks to Geospatial Media and Communications Pvt. Ltd. for bestowing the
OSGeo Foundation with this rare honor and congratulations to all members of
our community!
