John,

We may have touched on these issues before, however:

What is wrong with CC licenses?

Why does OSM feel the need to go to an Open Database License?


Working in the Public sector, I know how long it has taken for people to start to understand and accept CC licenses. Many still haven't.

IMO, OSM has got 'Buckley's Chance' of getting Government data released under an Open Database License in the foreseeable future, if at all.

Mismatches in licenses, although that isn't to say individual
contributors can't supply updates to both.

Although things with OSM(F) are very complicated at present due to
some wanting to change the license and the terms by which
contributions will be accepted, which may prevent the LINZ data from
being imported in the first place, as well as existing AU govt data
from being removed:
