I believe we had agreed that we wished to formally establish an Aust/NZ OSGEO Chapter rather than continue as an informal group subscribing to a mailing list. If nothing else, this adds credibility to OSGEO as an international foundation, as well as FOSS GIS is Australasia and the SW Pacigic region. So we are working towards that goal, for which OSGEO does require incorporation.</blockquote>

<a href="http://linux.conf.au/" target="_blank">linux.conf.au</a> was
held in Dunedin several years ago... and they ended
up with a big GST liability because Linux Australia was GST
registered on both sides of the Tasman and so both govts took their
share. This may not be a problem if all revenue/expenses are funneled
through TH for FOSS4G2009 (or in fact if nothing goes near OSGeo
Aust/NZ), but if there are plans along those lines its probably worth
talking to an accountant to make
