Usually the mapping parties are longer events - a dedicated day or two. The one party that I have organised before was a day long.<div><br></div><div>To hold a OSM event it would need to be outside of the conference event - either the weekend before or after and ideally involve someone who has been doing some OSM work previously in Sydney i.e. so they can advise a good area(s) to cover<br clear="all">

How long would a street mapping party take? The foss4g program is already chock full, so I'm not sure how we would fit it in. Maybe we could have the party on the Monday evening before FOSS4G workshops?<br>

I've only been involved with one mapping party but it's really<br>
apparent they are more useful for an educational/social event than to<br>
do useful mapping, although David Dean in Brisbane is trying to<br>
alternate between a social event and try to do a practical day in<br>
various parts around Brisbane that has been mapped from hi-res sat<br>
imagery but doesn't have street names or foot paths in parks etc.<br>
