<p><b><span lang="EN">The Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum of 2013 (CGVD2013) is now available!</span></b><span lang="EN-CA"><u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span lang="EN">Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is pleased to announce the release of the Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum of 2013 (CGVD2013), which is now the reference standard for heights across Canada. This new height reference system replaces the Canadian
Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1928 (CGVD28).</span><span lang="EN-CA"><u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span lang="EN">The chosen reference height of CGVD2013 derives from collaborative work and is formalized in an agreement between Geodetic organizations in United States of America and Canada. The vertical datum is now compatible with Global Navigation Satellite
Systems (GNSS) such as GPS.</span><span lang="EN-CA"><u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span lang="EN">The height of benchmarks is also now available in CGVD2013. These heights come from a readjustment of the entire existing federal first-order levelling network. Please note that the age of the benchmarks and the impact of regional instability
since they were last observed may render them unreliable. Re-observation is always recommended for critical applications requiring utmost accuracy.</span><span lang="EN-CA"><u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:10.0pt"><span lang="EN">NRCan is maintaining the publication of heights at benchmarks in CGVD28 for those who prefer to continue using the old reference and to assure a smooth and gradual transition period to the new

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:10.0pt"><span lang="FR">Ressources naturelles Canada (RNCan) est heureux d’annoncer le lancement du Système canadien de référence altimétrique de 2013 (CGVD2013) qui est maintenant le nouveau standard de référence pour
les altitudes à travers le Canada. Ce nouveau système de référence altimétrique remplace le Système canadien de référence altimétrique de 1928 (CGVD28).</span><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif""><u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:10.0pt"><span lang="FR">Le référentiel altimétrique choisi de CGVD2013 découle de travaux collaboratifs et est formalisé par une entente entre les organismes géodésiques des États-Unis d’Amérique et du Canada. Le datum
vertical est maintenant compatible avec les Systèmes de positionnement par satellites (ou sous son sigle anglais GNSS) tel que le GPS.</span><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif""><u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:10.0pt"><span lang="FR">L’altitude des repères altimétriques est aussi disponible suivant le CGVD2013. Ces altitudes proviennent d’un réajustement de l’ensemble du réseau de nivellement fédéral de premier ordre. Veuillez
noter que l’âge des repères et l’impact de l’instabilité régionale depuis leur dernière observation peuvent diminuer considérablement leur fiabilité. Un nouveau levé est toujours recommandé pour les applications critiques nécessitant une grande précision.</span><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif""><u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:10.0pt"><span lang="FR">RNCan prolonge la publication des altitudes suivant le CGVD28 aux repères altimétriques pour ceux qui préfèrent continuer avec l’ancien référentiel et assurer une période de transition graduelle
