[Benchmarking] Troubles on the db machine

Hi,
it seems we're having troubles on the db machine,
the file system is mounted read only, can't start
postgresql and oracle seems unavailable/not working
either.

e.g running as root:

 > mount
/dev/sda3 on / type ext3 (rw)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)

mount: warning /etc/mtab is not writable (e.g. read-only filesystem).
It's possible that information reported by mount(8) is not
up to date. For actual information about system mount points
        check the /proc/mounts file.

 > /etc/init.d/postgresql start
Starting postgresql service: /etc/init.d/postgresql: line 183:
/var/lib/pgsql/pgstartup.log: Read-only file system
                                                            [FAILED]

Humm.... why would the OS remount the disks read only and
not even know about it in mount?

Cheers
Andrea
