About India OSGeo Chapter

Dear Board,

Have added the Agenda item for discussion and approval
of India OSGeo Chapter for the BoD meeting scheduled
for 1st September, 2006.

Have met most of the initial members of the proposed
India OSGeo Chapter in early August, 2006 and the
response was great. The draft proposal for the
India OSGeo Chapter is available at

About 100 participants gathered at a days notice for
OSGeo talk (by Jitendra Shah and myself) held at
Department of Geography, Pune University on 14th Aug
2006.

The India OSGeo Chapter has nominated Dr. P.S. Roy,
who apart from leading the pestigious National Remote
Sensing Agency is a great supporter of Open Source
Software.

Dr. Yashodhan Joshi, who is implementing an FOSS based
Urban GIS solution for one of the richest municipalities in
India (Pimpri-Chinchwad) has been nominated as
Coordinator of the proposed India OSGeo Chapter.
