Having a cover letter from the board adds weight, thank you board. Having a well researched set of facts adds weight, thanks Martin. Having the story published widely adds weight, thanks to the media to ran the story and the people to took the story to the media. Having the letter officially delivered from the OSGeo President adds weight, I'm hoping we can achieve that too.</div><div><br></div><div>This was the reason for the original request sent to the board on 16 April, which was voted on and passed by the board. (See the email thread for history).</div><div><br></div><div>Yes, some people within Esri are aware of an earlier version of this letter, as are the OGC. I'm not aware if ASPRS have been notified.</div><div><br></div><div>So yes, a great job has been done so far. Everyone is contacting me offlist about the next steps for the Open Lidar letter, I am aware of that. I would ask that you discuss this here on the OSGeo Board list, so the whole Board can help you along. If I am correct, I believe the status is:<br>

- Esri responded<br>

- the story has made wide media coverage<br>

I really believe we've done a great job pushing this (we being Martin, Cameron, Suchith, everyone involved in the letter) and good things have come out of it, and, that the OSGeo Board has done its duties regarding this process.<br>

Do others disagree? By the number of pings that I am getting offline of trying to get me to send this letter it seems others want more action. So, please speak up here.<br>
