<div>MOSS had a significant impact on the acceptance of GIS as research and analytical tool in numerous Federal agencies. There is also the significant potential for using MOSS code as prior art in future geo-related patent infringement cases. From these two perspectives alone, the MOSS code should be preserved.</div>

<div>If anyone is interested, I have copies of a number of early MOSS documents (circa late 1970s to mid 1980s) including a version 10 Users Manual and a copy of the USGS funded MOSS Arc/Node design study.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Thanks to Saul and others for "taking on" MOSS after I and other early MOSS/MAPS/COS/WAMS developers moved onto other GIS projects (mostly GenaMap).</div>
