Hello!

This is an invitation for your company to send representatives to
the 2011 UCSB IT Vendor Fair to be held at UCSB on May 4, 2011 from
10:00-2:00. If this message should be sent to someone else at your
company, please let me know so I can correct my records and resend.

The University of California, Santa Barbara, is one of ten UC
campuses. We are a tier-one university with a strong emphasis on
research as well as education. Our 1000+ member faculty includes
five Noble laureates educating and mentoring more than 20,000
students. As our IT staff prepares for summer infrastructure
upgrades and our researchers prepare for their own summer projects
to bolster their research and/or prepare for the next academic year,
we are bringing together our decision makers, implementers and users
with the influential companies upon whose products and services we
rely.

Our target audience here on campus is twofold. The first is our
campus IT staff that support the IT infrastructure of the
university. These people recommend and implement solutions for their
administrative, academic and research units. The second part of our
audience is our professors, post-doctoral researchers, grad students
and professional researchers who would like more information about
the products and/or services provided by represented companies.

This will be a four hour open forum where developers, manufacturers
and vendors can present any and all aspects of their company as they
wish. I have prepared an invitation list for my own use which I have
shared with you at the end of this message. Each company that
chooses to attend is welcome to bring as many representatives as
they wish and we encourage subject matter experts since the audience
will be people with a very broad range of needs. Our goal is the
free flow and exchange of information and, in order to facilitate
this as best we can, we are paying the university costs incurred in
making this event happen - there is no cost to you to attend.

The IT Vendor Fair will officially be held from 10:00am-2:00pm on
Wednesday, May 4, 2011, in Corwin Pavilion on the UCSB campus and
there is no direct cost to attend. We have reserved the room for one
additional hour before and one hour after the event to accommodate
attendee setup and packing up. We will have tables available and set
up before 9:00; I anticipate 1-3 tables per attendee depending on
need. The tables will be set up but tablecloths and skirts will be
not since most attendees will be bringing their own branded material
anyway. All attendees wishing to provide refreshments of any kind
are welcome to do so with the caveat that all food and drink must be
provided by UCSB’s Catering Services. It is the responsibility of
each attendee wishing to provide refreshments to coordinate this
directly with Catering Services. Their web site is http://www.ucen.ucsb.edu/catering/home.html.

My initial invitation list is as follows; more companies will almost
certainly be added and this is simply a list that I'm sharing so you
can see who else is invited. Attendees will choose for themselves
what technical experts to bring and what subject matter to address
so keep in mind that this list is not definitive or a requirement
but meant to show who else will likely be presenting and included in
technology upgrades at UCSB.
I am the coordinator of this event and will be your point of contact
for anything you need other than issues related to the catering of
food and drink. I request the courtesy of a response by Wednesday,
April 13, 2011, letting me know whether you plan to attend this
event. If possible, I would also appreciate your letting me how many
people you plan to bring and their areas of expertise so we can use
this in the advertising on the event’s web site.

I’ll send an e-mail later to all attendees with information on the
easiest way to get to campus, obtaining vendor parking permits, the
best places to park, etc. I’ll also request any special needs
information such as power in case you need to set up a small network
to better demonstrate your products.

I hope to see you there!
