Mateo - our charter-required California Chapter annual meeting was held at
for UC Davis several years (big thanks to Alex and Michelle for hosting) .. last
year it was in San Jose (but we only got sparse attendance, which to me was
disappointing).

From my point of view, there is a huge gap between the insane startup culture
near SF, the redwood tree-sized corporate giants in the San Jose valley,
academics at Berkeley and Stanford and elsewhere, and then state and local
government, without a lot in between.. No one has the exact answer, all we
can do is keep trying things...

Do you want to be involved in calling for an OSGeo sponsored meeting in the
Sacramento Area ? Intuitively I feel there could be a lot of participants from
various government agencies, but I am wondering out loud what might get people
out of there routines and arrive at a Meetup ?

best regards from Berkeley, California

have something going on that is Open Source GIS oriented in the area. The GIS
Symposium had elements of Open Source, but I’m thinking something closer to
the annual meeting of the California OSGeo Chapter. It just needs some planning
so I’m thinking something next year. Maybe end of spring/start of summer 2016?
I’m open to discussing it with those interested in putting something together.
Maybe we should have a California OSGeo Chapter meeting just to discuss this
idea (and cover anything you need to do for regular org stuff)? That's my
thought at least.

All the best,
Mateo

--
Mateo Yanes
