I think taking time to plan a good meeting is a good idea. Maybe before we get too caught up in logistical details we should figure out what we want this meeting to accomplish. Normally we have talks and then some kind of group learning - either an unconference or code/cartography sprint. Do we like that format? Is there something else that people would like to see? What would make you excited to attend? Who would you like to attract? I'm hearing that we'd generally like more participation and we think that we'd like to draw in people from the bay area.

Michele

On Wed, Oct 5, 2016 at 8:23 AM, Landon Blake <sunburned.surveyor@gmail.com> wrote:

These are all good comments. I'll again be out of the country on this date, but would _really_ like
to attend. I'll do my best to attend virtually if nothing else.
Note: I am running for the OSGeo Board of directors [1][2], and the
appreciate your vote as a fellow Californian :)
>> November is a tricky month. I'm definitely interested in meeting. Nov. 19th works for me, but the 5th doesn't. The 12th falls on Veteran's Day weekend, so that's probably not going to work for most people either. Davis is always an option if other places don't work out. When we settle on a date, I can make sure the state government people hear about it and Alex can send it out to campus I'm sure.
