[OSGeo-Conf] Academic Track lead, not for 2012

Dear Beijing FOSS4G LOC and OSGEO conference list,

After my earlier email about support for my efforts on strengthening the
FOSS4G conference Academic Track in coming years, I have received a
response by the LOC of FOSS4G2012, that I regret did not fully support the
setup I proposed. Specifically, the LOC insists on using their own
deadlines and reviewing and publication plan. Of course they have every
right to do so, because it is in fact their conference...

However, this made me decide to not further pursue a role for myself as
FOSS4G2012 Academic Track lead.

Let me use this opportunity to tell you I appreciate the support that was
given to the original idea of making the AT publication a more fixed,
multi-year effort. And let me state that I am still interested to try
again next year, when we have more time to prepare and can operate with
the LOC from earlier on.

yours truly,
