Hey folks. Something to consider... many of us regularly host conferences away from our home base (I just finished MapWindow 2011 in San Diego, though I'm in Idaho). Maybe someone (or a small consortium?) ambitious enough from N. America or Europe would would be interested in setting up a bid for operating FOSS4G in southeast Asia or South America? Just thinking outside the box a bit here... How about Chile or Brazil? I have colleagues at universities in both places and would entertain teaming suggestions for hosting FOSS4G in one of these locales.
Hello everyone,

As everyone I am sure noticed, the OSGeo Conference Committee did not receive any letters of intent to host the 2012 event, by yesterday's deadline. We will now of course extend the deadline, and encourage bidding from all regions of the globe (before the initial deadline, we were hoping for bids from places other than North America or Europe...however now we will open the bidding up to those areas as well). I hope this extension will let those potential teams that were already considering, to offer their interest in hosting this wonderful event in their location.
The OSGeo Conference Committee is happy to announce the call for hosting
year, OSGeo again plans on making the 2012 event *the* geospatial
conference of the year. Please see the following page for the actual
