You may have noticed that the Washington D.C. proposal has a
student discount built in. <br>
<br>
We often recruit people who cannot afford the conference to
participate for free in exchange for being part of the video
recording team. The software user interface and hardware set up
was designed to be very simple... typically <10 minutes of
training are required.<br>
<br>
Like Darrell & Percy, a few of our committee teach at
Universities including myself so it's comfortable for us to agree
with much of what he wrote.<br>
<br>
Interestingly, we reached out to a number of different programs
that teach programming to students and asked them if they might be
interested to participate as part of a larger co-located code
sprint. I've been involved with a few of these for a while.<br>
<br>
We have set the student price at $300 for now in our budget.
Should sponsorship exceed expectations, we will strive to lower
that.<br>
<br>
Many of the companies from <a
href="https://drive.google.com/#folders/0BzSORaRRhk6SbHctZWZBS19YMkE">our
letters of support</a> are hiring. HR/Recruiting is yet another
good reason for students & companies to come.<br>
<br>
We've discussed videos quite a bit... one more comment: people can
review the material at their own pace, repeatedly, or on-demand as
a reference. They are great for outreach and especially to
students who can't make the conference.<br>

students, so we would attract them to come to the conference?
