Myself and the LOC are acutely aware and appreciate that existing sponsors don't need chasing like new sponsors. We've subsequently discussed this with our PCO over the last day. They are very happy to work out a model where they are paid differently (meaning less!) for managing and engaging the existing/repeat sponsors versus chasing and securing 'brand new money' and first time FOSS4G sponsors. We appreciate that new money has traditionally been hard to find for OSGeo and FOSS4G. We feel that Dublin is well positioned to source new sponsors which could then in turn become repeat sponsors for future FOSS4G. In relation to what we have mentioned above we have already secured agreement in principal for one new local sponsor and engaged expressions of interests from several other potential sponsors (at different levels). Overall we have carried out initial work on sponsorship sourcing and Dublin/Ireland does offer some new and unique opportunities for sponsorship. Through the PCO we have even opened dialogue with Microsoft about major partnership opportunities (such as using Skype live translate at FOSS4G). There are over one thousand MS people in their European HQ just down the road from CCD.<br></div><div class="gmail_quote">
