that I can think of. I do remember someone from <st1:place w:st="on">Southern
California</st1:place> that listened into one of our meetings. (His first name
was Joe?) Most of the activity in our chapter is coming out of the UC Davis
Campus. Alex Mandel is taking the lead there. We’ve also got someone from
the <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sacramento</st1:place></st1:City>
area that works at the California Geological Survey, if I am not mistaken.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

organizing OSGeo activities. We’ve talked about organizing smaller
regional chapters in the state, but I don’t think we have the support for
that yet. Personally, I would like us to think about how we can draw more OSGeo
enthusiasts from <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State>
together via online means. Alex has focused a lot on getting an OSGeo presence
at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State></st1:place>
conferences, which is great, but I’m personally interested in seeing what
we can do as a group on the software front. Our chapter is home to <st1:place
w:st="on">Silicon Valley</st1:place>, after all. :]<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
