software.<br clear="none">In March 2014 she was instrumental in organising the first FOSS4G event in Sri Lanka [4],which was a success, with 60 participants including students from several Sri Lankan universities [5].<br clear="none"><br clear="none">Yann Chemin introduced me to Nimalika when I visited Sri Lanka early this year, and I
have soon been impressed by her enthusiasm and proactivity in spreading open source GIS, especially in education.
