This years Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco (December 3 - 7 2012) will feature a FOSS-themed session.

The AGU Fall Meeting is the largest worldwide conference in the geophysical sciences, attracting nearly 20,000 Earth and space scientists, educators, students, and policy makers. This meeting showcases current scientific theory focused on discoveries that will benefit humanity and ensure a sustainable future for our planet.

SESSION TITLE: FOSS for Geoinformatics and Geosciences (IN024)
This session focuses on the growing role of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) with a special emphasis on the interoperability among existing and future FOSS-tools within Geoinformatics. The session will be a forum for both the latest advances in FOSS-empowered research and also successful applications of existing FOSS tools for geoscientific tasks.
