As one who's attending past two OGRS I believe its beneficial to have one purely focused on FOSS in education even if its a small meeting. The FOSS4G in PDX will have only small slice of the overall conference dedicated to education

However, I am having a comment and/or a question: So we have now another Foss4g-EU conference with a focus on research - what I understand from the text below. OGRS (3rd conference on the topic) is doing the same, also this year. So, isn't that a bit counter
productive to make 2 FOSGIS conferences in Europe with a science focus in the same year? I.e. it would be better join efforts.
Given the recent OGRS in Helsinki, I would like to recall this discussion. Of course, if the community is able to anticipate so as to share efforts for organizing joint events, that would be good. Currently we are already discussing and planning the next editions,
OGRS'16 probably in Perugia and aiming for an event in 2018 outside of Europe as OGRS is an international level. Moreover, I share the feeling that having multiple events with focus on research (and education) is currently still at the benefit of our common
vision, by creating diversity and richness.
