<p>I have postgresql 8.1 running on a CentOS 5 server. Are there
any issues or "gotchas" I should be aware of before doing a
yum install postgresql84?</p>

Hi Micha<br>
<br>
In our case, the fact that PostgreSQL 8.3 dropped many implicit
casts required some manual intervention on our applications, see
e.g <a moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="http://petereisentraut.blogspot.it/2008/03/readding-implicit-casts-in-postgresql.html">http://petereisentraut.blogspot.it/2008/03/readding-implicit-casts-in-postgresql.html</a>
and <a moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"

<br>
Thanks, Peter. <br>
I don't think I have any implicit number->text casts (i.e. I
used the function to_char(timestamp, format) to display
times/dates), so I hope this won't be an issue.<br>
Best regards,<br>
Micha <br>
