    <tt>I took a shot at compiling QGIS 1.8.0 on SL 6. No luck. I got
      errors regarding sip, so I tried to install a later version of sip<br>
      [micha@SL6 build]$ sip -V<br>
      4.13.4-snapshot-9b330b545c65<br>

      and then, during the build of QGIS I got a bunch of "Deprecation
      warning" messages, then:<br>
