Hi Greg,

I was offline for few days and it was pleasure to see all this activity
on FDO project.
Great work.
Thank you,
Haris

Hi All,

Over the last year, members of the OSGeo FDO Community within Autodesk
have been informally musing on different ways in which the FDO API could
be enhanced to make it more useable and developer friendly. In order to
shine light on their efforts and open the discussions to all community
members up for further debate and feedback, I will be uploaded a number
of the resulting discussion papers and proposals to FDO Futures page
http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoFutures.

The first of these papers are as follows:

FDO Connection Pooling -
http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoConnectionPooling
FDO DateTime Comparison -
http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoDateTimeCompare
FDO DataValue Comparison -
http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoDataValueCompare
FDO DataValue Type Conversion -
http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoDataValueTypeConversion
FDO Schema DeepCopy Support -
http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoSchemaDeepCopy

Additional proposals and discussion papers will be added in the days to
come.

Regards,

Greg

Hi,

If you go to the fdo internals page, http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/, you'll
see that I added a link for an FDO Futures discussion page.

I've added a topic for discussion on client utility libraries as a
result of some discussions that have been cropping up. Please see
http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoClientUtilities. On fdo email lists
there has been some initial but brief discussion of things like adding
project support either via a client-side library or fdo wrapper or even
adding to fdo providers. Other discussions that I've heard are around
wrappers around fdo providers to enhance their functionality to provider
more consistency between what can be achieved with different providers.

The page that I've added is meant is a starting point for discussion.
I've added some sections and bullets, but the idea is that other folks
add their thoughts here or correct what is there so far and see what we
end up with.

Also, you can add to the general list of futures topics.

Thanks,
Orest.
