This is academically interesting, however, I am not sure you would get much practical value in a product like MapGuide, where the overhead of executing the SQL is only a small percentage of the render time. Even if you get the SQL query time down to 0, you would still get only a small speedup in map render time -- you'd be much better optimizing the rendering part with the graphics card (and it would be less weird). :)
