I know that there are folks who are successfully building and using
ECW, MrSID, JPEG2000
and Oracle GeoRaster support on Linux.  But to the best of my
knowledge this is being done
individual by individual rather than building sharable plugins.
Partly this is because of
the variety of Linux versions and partly it is an issue with licensing
constraints on
most of the above.
