 If you try to open shape files that have duplicate column names, you'll
 get an error. Autodesk Mapguide Studio gives me a "Read Schema Failed"
 message. Autodesk's Map 2008 (which supposedly used FDO for importing
 shape files) says it's "Invalid Data". ESRI's ArcView opens it them just
 fine, as did prior versions of Autocad that did not use the FDO provider.
