Akshay,

AFTER you have the basics of Python down and ready for geospatial stuff,
try to get a copy of this book: Python Geospatial Development, Erik
Westra, Packt Publishing

I am reading it right now to learn about the python module "shapeiy". I am
writing a Python program to find the intersections of streets. For shapely
I have found the documentation to be good:
http://toblerity.github.com/shapely/manual.html
and and the examples here http://nullege.com/codes/search?cq=shapely

But this is the *GPS* list... and that book is almost 100% GIS... so...
Python is a great language for processing geojson and GPX files.

Maybe someone on this list has an item on his/her to-do list requiring
marching through a NMEA or GPX log file that you could work on? Python is
great for that. And everyone I know learns fastest working on a real
project instead of doing tutorials.

Are you working on Windows/Linux/Mac? Just curious.
