<div dir="ltr">John,<div><br></div><div>In order to collect ideas about what events we can run on commnunity day, we need to provide a demographic process for open-source and open-data geo projects to indicate that they would like their project to be available on the community day.</div><div><br></div><div>If you need to have a clear idea about what they community day is going to look like, we first need to work out what projects will at least be offered. That is what we need the form for.</div><div><br></div><div>I think talking about this more on Friday will be valuable, because I'm still a little lost what the objection here is.</div><div><br></div><div>We need to plan the community day, and to plan the community day we need to have some idea of what sort of projects we could have participants work on. Let's use the form for that!</div><div><br></div><div>- David</div><div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr">On Tue, 17 Jul 2018 at 11:22 John Bryant <<a href="mailto:johnwbryant@gmail.com">johnwbryant@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">One reason for thinking about this now: Alex and I have been invited to attend the OSGeo board meeting on the 1st of August to discuss our request for funds for the Community Day. The more prepared we are for that, the better... I'd rather not go and ask them for funds, but not be able to answer their questions. So with that in mind, I'd prefer we carry on with the discussion now.<div><br></div><div>I agree, I don't think we need to publicise too much at this point, but it would be good to put some info out there so people have an idea about what to expect. Some people will be making travel plans and they should have some info to guide whether they attend CD or not.<div><br></div><div>My reason for delaying the submission of projects ideas is: how many ideas do we want, how will we select them, where will they fit in the program etc etc. If I'm the only one in this group that feels this level of planning is required, then I'm happy to drop it.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div></div>
