Dear Carrin,

Hence I asked you to forward the mail from Gavin to the GISSA chairs.

Please note that Daina is now doing the marketing for FOSS4G and I think I
have forwarded her most of the stuff.

I agree that we need to be creative, I think next we could send that advert
to the GISSA people embedded in the email - the A6 one.

Regards

Inge

Hi Inge

Normally the mail to the regions comes through me so that I can keep an
eye on what is being distributed - ultimately I'm responsible so I need
to keep an eye on what is being sent out. Usually if the regional chairs
get mail from me they respond to it fairly quickly.

I'm in the process of negotiating a secretary and she will take over
distributing the marketing when we have sorted out her job details.

I think that we are going to have to be creative in our marketing to our
members if its going to be done on a regular basis. For e.g. we could
take a different conference topic every 2 week2, give a short paragraph
on what it is about, and hopefully get people interested. I'd also like
to send a monthly shot out to SAGI and PLATO, and that will have to be
different each time, otherwise people will discard our mail.

Perhaps we could get each of the FOSS specialists to write up a
paragraph and use it for marketing.

We also need to go into the EISAfrica newsletter ever month. Is there an
EIS Asia or something similar? I'm pretty sure that there is an
Australian GIS society and will see if I can find the site.

cheers

Carrin Martin
