[Foss4g2008loc] RE: irc / geodata

If I am able to get my hands on some data within a week of the
conference, I'd be happy to set up web services with
WMS/WFS/KML/whatever on an EC2 instance for all to use. If there is
someone on some osgeo committee who usually would (or would prefer to)
handle this, just say the word.

In addition, it sounds like the workshop folks will be able to get their
hands on the actual data before the conference, so that should take care
of most cases.

Graeme, I am hopeful that in addition to loading it into a workshop
image you'd be willing to upload the data to an ftp server -- I am happy
to supply one if needed -- when you get it, so I (and potentially other
workshop presenters) can integrate it into our programs if relevant.

Finally, I see I'm the only one who's listed any layers of interest on
the wiki page so far. I think we should probably formally request the
data early next week to ensure we get it in good time -- can anyone who
actually knows about local Western Cape data fix my guesses at to what
layers we should request?

Cheers,

  -Josh
