Mark,<br><br>Quick update....<br><br>Spoke to Janelle today and it seems that expanding workshops out into Parkside 110A and 110B is not an option - which fits in with our thinking in terms of keeping it as the five rooms i.e. G01-05 with a capacity of 290<br>
<br>If we use stick with the outline program in terms of workshop time slots and exclude 110A and 110B that would be 10 workshops in total over 1 day.<br><br clear="all">Simon<br>

FWIW, I agree with your suggested capacity. Even G04 (170 seats) seems unwieldy for a workshop, the larger rooms would make it very difficult to remain interactive, at least for me.<br>
<br>
I'm of the opinion that more workshops are always better, but from the experiences of previous years it sounds like 14 will be plenty from a logistical standpoint.<br>
<br>
I understand tutorials are not expected to be 'hands on' in the same way as labs were and workshops continue to be, so I won't include those in the rental costings.<div class="Ih2E3d"><br>

I have suggested we look at capacity of 290 for workshops. A suggested room allocation is detailed in the above links and attachments. I have only listed workshops running for a single day - Tuesday 20th Oct. These are only suggestions and if the OC thinks otherwise I can amend the program - however because SCEC reservations are needed ASAP i suggest we take a decision on this today or tomorrow?<br>

With the completion of a few of my projects lately, I finally have<br>
time to make a commitment to the FOSS4G effort. Cameron has pointed<br>
out the need to sort out details of the workshops, especially the<br>
cost of equipment rentals, so I've taken on that task and am busy<br>
wading through the various documentation that I haven't had time to<br>
keep up with over the last few months. I hope to have numbers for<br>
you in the next few days.<br>

From what I understand, we're currently expecting 300 workshop<br>
attendees, we have half a dozen rooms available and will be running<br>
workshops for a day and a half, though which days are still<br>
undecided. Can anyone confirm / correct this?<br>
