Thanks for taking the time to make the suggestions. I will be able to make these and assorted updates to the site this long weekend (For the uninitiated we are celebrating the Queens B'day in Australia this wk'end)

Hi all, Shoaib in particular,

We need to update the FOSS4G website, to be consistent with the
information available on the wiki. Since people suggested to keep the
same dates for both abstracts, we can use the same form, with an
additional checkbox to select between presentation and/or research
paper.

So, my suggesting is to change just the following items:

0) Change the yellow highlight on the website, to include the call for
research papers.
The text can be:
"Registration and Call for Presentations and Research Papers Now Open!" (with two links, to each call)

1) Change the main menu (add new subsubitem)
Main menu -> Programme -> Academic track

2)Create a new page for the Academic Track
(http://2009.foss4g.org/researchpapers)
Title: FOSS4G Academic Track

If you think your work can contribute to the research in the FOSS4G
field, don't hesitate to send us the paper abstract soon as you can. You
can finish the full paper till the end of June, but we would like to
receive the abstract before June 6th, to have an idea about how many
papers we will receive on later June.

You can read the full call for papers on the wiki
(http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2009_Call4papers), were you can get
updated information about the academic track.

The best papers will be selected for oral presentation on the academic
track, and will be included in a reputed publication, able to
disseminate our contribution to FOSS4G research area.

Right now, tell us your interest and submit a short abstract of your
research paper. Later, you will have to submit the full paper for
reviewing.

Button "Submit a research paper" (pointing to the presentation form).

3)Change the presentation submission form

The currently available form must be modified to accept both
abstracts for the presentation track and the academic track.

3.1) After the author, we should put two checkboxes, for people to choose
between presentation or research paper (it makes sense to select just
for presentation, just for research paper and both). Papers not selected
for the academic track, can go to the presentation track.
3.2) The label "About the Presentation" could be changed to "About the
Presentation/Research paper"

Thats all, for now.

Thanks,

Jorge
