Hi all,

There is some general information that should be included in press
releases for people who are not local or familiar with OSGeo and
FOSS4G. It should cover something about OSGeo, PDX-OSGeo, and FOSS4G.
We can look at the 2009 press release for inspiration,
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2009_Press_Release_1

Below is a first draft, please respond with improvements. How long has
PDX-OSGeo been meeting?

Thanks, Eli

About OSGeo

The Open Source Geospatial Foundation was founded to support and build
the highest-quality open source geospatial software. The foundation's
goal is to encourage the use and collaborative development of
community-led projects, data development and education. Many projects
live under the OSGeo umbrella. http://osgeo.org

About PDX-OSGeo - Portland Area and Oregon OSGeo Chapter

The PDX-OSGeo chapter of OSGeo has been meeting in the Portland area
for ___ years discussing and promoting the use of open source
geospatial technology. The chapter is also a special interest group
of OR-URISA. Chapter members often organize or present on open source
software at regional geospatial conferences. PDX is the airport code
and like the PDX airport, the group has a wide catchment area.

About FOSS4G

FOSS4G is the international gathering of open source, geospatial
tribes. From its beginnings the FOSS4G conference has been the
gathering of the spatial tribes and has a reputation of being a
melting pot for great ideas in the spatial industry and a catalyst for
many successful geospatial products, standards and protocols. The
FOSS4G conference has been held all over the world, in 2013 it was in
Nottingham, England. FOSS4G celebrates ten years in 2014.
