Hello 2014 committee,

(I am writing this with a FOSS4G hat on, not any other role or title)

Each year I give some recommendations to the FOSS4G local committee
early on. I've been involved with FOSS4G a long time, and can give some
useful recommendations, that could help your communication and help the
future committees learn from you.

Note that not every committee listens to me, and you are not forced to
do anything I say.

1. I strongly recommend that you heavily use the OSGeo Wiki to record all
of your progress, meetings, lists, tasks.

The benefit here is future committees have a nice easy way to use your
materials/templates/press releases/meeting structure/workshop
pages/everything.

Make sure to add the "FOSS4G2014" text at the bottom of each of your
wiki pages, so it can be found:

http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:FOSS4G2014
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:FOSS4G2011
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:FOSS4G2010
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:FOSS4G2009
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:FOSS4G2008
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:FOSS4G2007

2. start to store ALL your files in OSGeo's SVN. I've created a new
"2014" folder for you at:

http://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/foss4g/
http://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/foss4g/2014/

Contact me if someone needs write permissions.

Store vector logos, docs, website...anything and everything. This will
GREATLY help future events. Start right now with you final logo files
(raw vectors).

Eg. The first ever FOSS4G ribbon raw vector files are still available in
that same SVN: http://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/foss4g/2004/osgis-mum2/

Please do store your files through SVN, to help future events. Thank you.

3. You're already moving along with the public and private mailing
lists. Excellent. The more visibility on the public list the better
(2013 raised the bar for regular updates to the community) And don't
forget to use the workshop list as well, as there are hundreds of
presenters still living there with experience.
http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/conference-workshops

Thanks for keeping this all in mind, as you travel down this long path.
