Dave, it looks really great. One minor suggestions; if you have
the time, could you put the MAX line and stops around the event on
the map? Here is a link for the data: <a moz-do-not-send="true"

To clarify, I have started creating a simple
split-panel map using QGIS, it just won't include
all the bells and whistles that have been requested.
It will show airport, conference center, PSU, a few
other locations, and major transportation routes.
I'll put out my draft effort by the end of the
weekend. I won't be offended if we decide not to use
it. Some of the maps I recommended were downloaded
from the Travel Portland's website but I'll contact
them about providing printed maps which could save
us some time and money.
everyone -- all great

The challenge: not enough
space.

It has been suggested that I
attempt to squeeze approx.
45 square miles of
geographic space into two,
4.5" W x 3.825" H (let's say
4.25" W to be conservative)
page spaces and call out
restaurants, hotels, places
of interest, streets, light
rail, PSU buildings and
more. Simply put, that's not
going to happen. There's
just not enough room for it
all.

The solution: more than one
map.

There are already some great
maps of the Portland area
that are freely available
and show all the requested
features. I think we should
include some of these
existing maps in conference
packets and embed a stripped
down schematic-type map with
a few important locations in
the small panels described
above. That would give folks
quick access to some
essential information but
the ability to get specifics
if they want / need them.

Here's a link to the
collection of good existing
maps:

I recommend including these
in the packets:

pdx-city-center-map.pdf -
general transportation /
lodging
pvm-map.pdf - things to do
and traveler information
psu-campus-map.pdf - umm...
