It's pretty clear where it came from initially:

<PropertyMapping>
 <Name>SURNAME</Name> 
 <Value>Last Name</Value> 
</PropertyMapping>

But calling it something like propertyLabels or propertyDisplayNames
would be a lot clearer.  The original question about this sure looked
like a bug :)
