That looks like IE and PNG support. Does it look better in Firefox?<br>

IE does not display an image with both an alpha channel as well as an
opacity attribute very well.<br>
It was fixed in OpenLayers at some point, the file in question is
Util.js, and the function is modifyDomElement.<br>
