[Gdal-dev] Shapefile spatial indexing

So I if I read this right does building a new gdal automatically give me
support for this in mapserver?

Bart,

You can create them with shptree as well.  One of my objectives was to
ensure the format was 100% compatible between mapserver and ogr.  I also
adapted Steve's code for reading, writing and scanning them.
