The newest code is now in CVS (the source control system for GDAL).
There are nightly snapshots from CVS made available at:

  http://dl.maptools.org/dl/gdal/daily/

You can also use a CVS client to pull the very latest, but last
nights snapshot should be fine for your purposes.
