[Gdal-dev] Convert Raster to Shapefile

Hello,
I have this problem:
I need to convert 15,000 rasters to shapefiles (by a
script). I have to  group them by color into polygons,
I will have 3-4 groups of color, for a 255 color
palete raster.
Is there any opensource application available to do
this task?

Any ideas will be very appriciated.
