Craig -

The EPSG codes for UTM Zone 12 NAD27 and UTM Zone 12 NAD83 are 26712 and
26912, respectively.  Those are the values you should be using in your
s_srs and t_srs parameters.

I just need to go from UTM NAD27 to NAD 83.  Both are zone 12.  I
believe the NAD83 is GRS 80 as well. The area is NE Alberta.
