(I hope this isn't bad form mentioning products... I'm not
affiliated with the company in question)

After patching my GDAL build on Mac OS X to use the Apple-provided
iODBC instead of UnixODBC, I've been keeping an eye out for iODBC
drivers, and hoping someone could test the FileMaker Pro iODBC driver.

One disappointment was that the only Access drivers I could find were
bridges, so one still must have an Access server available.

A Mac OS X iODBC standalone driver for Access (direct from the MDB
file) is now available:

They also have drivers for Oracle (another one of interest to GDAL/
GIS users), Sybase, SQL Server and Openbase.

Time to grab some MDBs from Arc and try out the GDAL personal
geodatabase format driver!

Theory of the Universe

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly
what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly
disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarrely
inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has
already happened.
