Daniel,

The cost is the extra complication in the CVS history - ie. the log
command gets much more complicated and less comprehensible.  I will
conceed the cost is perhaps more in my head than in reality.

Normally one does not pull down the full repository, just one branch or
the trunk.  In this case the branches don't take extra traffic.
