[Gdal-dev] Instructions for Cygwin compile of GDAL

Can someone please tell me what file to edit, and what to change/add to it,
so that I can compile GDAL in Cygwin and obtain Python support?  I found a
cygMakefile in the pymod dir that seems old (refers to Python 2.1), and
which I don't have a clue what to do with.  I've also found a posting from
Norman that says, "Just tweak the makefile(s) a little", and is followed by
code that looks similar (but not exactly the same) to what's in the
cygMakefile.  I have no idea what file to edit, or what info can be used
as-is from the old files, and what should be updated to reflect gdal
1.4.1and Python
2.5.

Thanks in advance for the help, I'd be happy to write up  a HOWTO for this
afterwards, so that we don't have to go through this again and again.
