I agree that we need to keep the PSC and sponsors well informed and that 
providing the report only by request is not the best option. Perhaps a 
non-archived private list including the sponsors and PSC could be used 
for that kind of stuff?

Agreed.

Yes, this kind of stuff, or any misuse of the information that could 
disadvantage the maintainer in his work with other clients unrelated to 
OSGeo. I know we have nothing to hide, but I just don't feel that 
disclosing that info on a public list brings any value to the community 
other than potentially hurting the contractor down the road if the 
information is misused.
